Tips when Dealing with Toddler Bad HabitsTips when Dealing with Toddler Bad Habits By Margaret Gaia Toddlers develop bad habits as soon as they begin to learn some words and engage into a conversation with their parents. The bad habits sometimes begin as part of the toddler’s inability to communicate or the lack of knowledge and experience to handle things on their own. Sometimes, it can be due to the parent’s inability to discipline the toddler at the very start. Instead, the problem got bigger and the toddler acquired more bad habits than before. Examples of bad habits of a toddler A toddler may be inconsiderate by not obeying an instruction of the mother or the father. This stems from the toddler able to get away from being reprimanded. Your toddler does not want to eat the food on the table and does not intend to put any food on his plate. This is common among toddler bad habits. Your toddler refuses to pee when you tell him so as you are trying to avoid him from messing up the bed during the night or disturbing you later by telling you he has to pee in the middle of the night. Another case of toddler bad habits is this. Your toddler bugs you of a toy or plaything like a new electronic device and you said no. This can be irritating if he starts to make trouble in school or tries to make you feel guilty for not giving in. Your toddler tells a lie. He can tell you that he has done what you told him to do but he did not. Parents disapprove and frown on this one among toddler bad habits Your toddler bullies another kid or a younger brother or younger sister. This can be serious when your toddler becomes worse. He can be a bully of one kid and then a bully for a group of kids. This has reached alarming proportions among toddler bad habits. Clever tips to end the bad habits To solve the particular problem of a picky eater, you can try the following tricks: 1. Offer a deal that if your toddler eats his food during meal times for the entire week, you will reward him of a trip to the mall during weekends. This is a lot better than giving a reward each time your picky-eater toddler follows your instructions. The catch in this trick is to have a closer bonding time with your kid. 2. Let your toddler pick his choices from your plate before you eat. Place a combination of foods in your plate and ask your kid to help you with the food you have placed inadvertently. Tell him you would like to reduce weight. Ask his help if he can eat some of the food in your plate. To make your toddler go to the potty for regular trips, you should try to explain the awful and distasteful behaviour if he does not regularly unload his waste. Give some kind of an educational tour of the human anatomy to explain that wastes in the body have to be disposed of by the body. Otherwise, bad odour can be smelled outside and ask your toddler if he wants to be that kid with a lot of obnoxious garbage in the body. Other toddler bad habits (bugging you of a new toy, telling a lie, and being a bully) can be solved by innovative ways to approach the problem. So far, the most effective solution is to both a parent and a friend to your toddler. Understand the limitations of your child. Be the closest friend he ever has. Share in the activities he likes doing. Bond with your toddler and you will get positive results of a well-behaved growing kid who loves his mother and father that he will not put them in a bad light. |
