At What Age Do Babies Talk?

My Baby & Me

Funny thing – interesting topic.

At what age to babies talk?   Does gender matter?  Is it different for everyone, or around the same time?

Our baby is two as of Aug 2010.  He has a little friend down the street that is two years, five months old.   Both are boys.   His friend is talking up a storm…full sentences, answering questions, etc.  My baby boy is saying words….but still baby talk.  We took a look at the differences.

Our little friend down the street does the following:

-          Goes to daycare

-          Is worked with regularly

-          Gets home with Mommy and instead of watching cartoons – talks with Mommy and Daddy

At our home – I stay at home as a Mommy.  I work with my little boy as much as possible, yet not like a school would.  And because we are together all day, every day, we do watch cartoons and walk, do more fun stuff.

The point is, it is easy to get off track and start taking the easy way out with teaching the little ones.  It is also easy to lose focus when you are together all day, every day.

I would be interested in everyone’s comments to understand thoughts around this.

In conclusion, it does seem our babies talk “around” the same age.  There are things you can do, such as our little buddy down the street, to help them along and learn faster, yet they all are talking pretty much around the same time.
