Week 14 of PregnancyYour Baby and Changes… It is hard to believe that now at week 14 of pregnancy your baby that was the size of a little bean is now the size of a man's fist. Your baby will also weigh about one ounce. While your baby is still very small, it’s incredible to imagine that even at such a small weight and size, looks very much human. The baby is receiving all his nourishment from the placenta now, which is fully functioning. The placenta attaches to the uterine wall and the umbilical cord is what attaches the placenta to the baby. Your Body and Changes… It really depends on the pregnancy but don’t be surprised if during week fourteen you start to have the need to wear maternity clothes. Some moms will still be able to fit in their regular day to day clothes, but don’t be upset if you find yourself wearing more and more of the maternity outfits you’ve bought. You may find that one day you are wearing normal day to day clothes, and the next day you are wearing your maternity clothes. Don’t be surprised if the jeans are the first to change, as its tight fitting pants, jeans or skirts that usually are substituted first, as they are beginning to create discomfort for you as a Mommy. If this is your first pregnancy, you may not yet be showing enough for others to notice. But as you move on to your second or third pregnancy don’t be surprised if you start showing much sooner. This can be explained simply by the fact that your uterus is bigger and more obvious. Many women report that they start noticing changes with their skin. There is no reason to panic, this is completely normal. It is also common during week fourteen to start noticing a faint dark brown line forming on your stomach. The medical term for this dark line that will be with you from now on out and for a couple of weeks after delivery is called linea nigra, a dark line down the stomach. You may also start noticing during week fourteen that your areolas are turning a dark brown. You should pay attention to your teeth during your pregnancy, especially during week fourteen and on. You definitely want to have an appointment with your dentist around this time frame to ensure that your teeth are in good shape. It’s not uncommon to develop gum infections during pregnancy so protect yourself from any infections. Starting at about week fourteen it is common to notice that your gums feel more sensitive and may even bleed when you are brushing your teeth. Water birthing is the process of giving birth to your baby in a warm tub of water. Some women choose to birth to their babies in water because of the many benefits that come with it, up to and including the comfort and soothing natural effect that the water give them.
The baby has lived in the amniotic sac for nine months therefore water birthing gives the
baby and opportunity to be born in a similar environment which offers comfort. It also is
a less stressful environment for the mother during childbirth. Single motherhood is more common than one might think. They are able to block out all obstacles existing for being a single parent and put their children's well being as a top priority. “Getting your tubes tied” is a phrase or term which is used commonly to describe one process of contraception in the female anatomy. The medical term for this is “tubal ligation”. With having a baby, comes responsibility from the start of being a parent. Part of that responsibility if ensuring that your new little newborn is protected from germs, viruses, and diseases while still surviving on the mommy’s immune system. It has been said that is mothers had gum disease their babies have four times the changes of experiencing gum disease as well. |
